Tax holiday for school supplies, apparel & electronics

Florida is offering shoppers savings on eligible purchases of apparel, school supplies, and electronic devices including laptops, desktops and tablets.

Florida Back To School sales tax holidays are events in which state sales tax is withheld on qualifying products. The savings are for all shoppers of any age even if they are not in school.

In 2025, the back to school  tax holiday is August 1-31, with a variety of tax-exempt items.

In Florida, state sales taxes are 6 percent or $6 for every $100 spent.  Usually, in regions where additional local sales taxes are assessed, those taxes are waived. If you spend $250 on eligible items, you'll save at least $15 in sales taxes.

Individual qualifying items must be within designated price limits.  School supplies of $50 or less. Apparel, footwear and accessories of $100 or less.  Eligible personal computers and computer accessories for personal use for $1,500 or less.  Eligible educational toys for $30 or less. There is no limit on eligible tax-exempt purchases as long as they are within the price limits.

If the price of an item is higher than the qualifying limit, the tax exemption does not apply.
