Reading is fundamental, something we strive to instill in our kids at an early age and Miami is a city teeming with book fairs and literary happenings to help achieve that goal.
That's why this weekend, you'll want to visit the Coral Gables Youth Center on Sunday, May 21 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the free Gables Family Literacy Festival. It's the third annual event and one in the long list of bookish events.
Taking place outdoors, under the Youth Center tree canopy, the daylong celebration and Scholastic Book Fair promotes summer reading and the literary arts.
The festival provides a unique experience for all ages and abilities and includes a street fair with literacy exhibitors and vendors, free literacy screenings and evaluations, children’s activities, book donation and exchange areas, food vendors, and much more.
