Destination Freedom event in Fort Lauderdale

Food trucks, fun for youngsters, and vendors are featured at a festive Florida Emancipation Day event at a library in Fort Lauderdale.  Florida Emancipation Day reflects the historical proclamation abolishing slavery in Florida. 

The  Florida Emancipation Day event in Fort Lauderdale in 2023 is 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. May 20, with free entry and  registration is recommended.

The venue is African American Research Library,  2650 Sistrunk Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale.

Food & Entertainment event with a fee 

Broward Library offers occasional events for adults that focus on the food and entertainment of a particular region.

Destination Freedom in 2023 is 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. May 19 featuring food and entertainment representing Haiti and America. The events are for ages 21 and older.

Tickets are $15 prior to the event and $20 at the event. Parking and refreshments are included.  Register online.

The event is at  African American Research Library,  2650 Sistrunk Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale.
