In Hollywood, an oceanside environmental education facility is presenting an exhibit of environmental art. It's also hosting a family event to feature the display.
The environmental art event in 2023 is 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. July 15 and entry is free. Artwork is for sale. Food trucks are on site. Educational stations about protecting the environment are set up for kids. A beach trash pick-up event is offered for those who'd like to participate.
The venue is Marine Environmental Education, or MEEC, a facility that is run as a partnership of Broward Parks and Recreation and Nova Southeastern University.
MEEC is at 4414 N. Surf Road, Hollywood 33019. The artwork on display includes paintings and other pieces from students and alumni at Nova Southeastern University.
For regular excursions to MEEC, entry is free, and donations are encouraged.
It's usually open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays at Hollywood North Beach Park, 4414 N. Surf Road, Hollywood 33019. It's a good idea to phone ahead, 954-357-5125, to ensure the venue is open the day you are venturing out.
Fees for parking meters usually apply.
Beach parking is $3 an hour Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays and $4 an hour Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
The venue sometimes includes opportunities to see resident rescued sea turtles.
