Discussions, films, and other events are featured at Broward branch libraries and around the United States  to promote free access to books.

Participating libraries in Broward are handing out “I Read Banned Books” buttons while supplies last.

Free “Banned Books” events in 2023 include

  • 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. October 2  film “The Color Purple”

  • 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. October 2, graphic novel book discussion for teens and others: “Fahrenheit 451”
               Hollywood Branch register
  • 6:30 p.m. October 3, book discussion “The Handmaid’s Tale”

  • 5 p.m. October 5, film and book talk,
              Lauderdale Lakes Branch, register
  • 2:30 p.m. October 6, film “Fahrenheit 451”  

Beach Branch register

  • 2 p.m. October 26 discussion and lecture, Book Banning and Protecting the freedom to read
