Broward Library in Fort Lauderdale and branch libraries offer activities, discussions and performances for Black History Month.
Events include
Performance featuring Positively Africa
Performance 10 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. February 3 by Positively Africa featuring songs, dances and information about Luo and Zigua tribes of Africa. Event includes a display of instruments, textiles and toys from Africa. Information is online. It’s at library at Nova Southeastern University, 3301 College Avenue, Davie 33314
Tiger Trail Street Festival in Pompano
Fun activities for youngsters, live entertainment and vendors are featured at Tiger Trail Street Festival 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. February 18 at 600 MLK Jr. Boulevard. Feature: Free Tiger Trail Street Festival in Pompano
Black Excellence Parade and Festival
Parade is 9 a.m. February 18 from Boyd Anderson High, 3050 NW 41st Street, Lauderdale Lakes, west on Northwest 41st Street, south on South on State Road 7, west to Torres Park, 4331 NW 36th Street, Lauderdale Lakes. The festival is about 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and includes a black vendor market and live entertainment. Information is online. Entry is free.
Chamber Ensemble
African music and music of African diaspora is featured 11:30 a.m – 1 p.m. February 18 at Hallandale library, 954-357-6380, 300 S. Federal Highway, Hallandale .

Jazz in Pompano
“African American Women of Jazz” in 2023 features jazz artist Nicole Yarling 7:30 p.m. February 23 with reservations offered online.

Sistrunk Parade & Festival Fort Lauderdale
Parade & Festival at 9 a.m. February 25 at Lincoln Park, 600 NW 19th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale. Information is online.

Afro-Carib Festival
Afro-Carib Festival is 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. February 25 at Miramar Regional Park, 16801 Miramar Parkway 33027. Features Tekno, J. Perry, Jacob Forever, Koffee, Alexander Star and Yung Wylin’. Tickets are $25 and $125. Information is online.
