Avenue of the Arts Kid’s Art Day in Fort Lauderdale

Delight in exciting events, live entertainment  and interactive displays offered for Lauderdale Art Week in Broward. 

Lauderdale Art Week in 2024 is January 20 through 28, and plenty of the events and exhibits are free.  Theater performances and some other events require a fee.

Lauderdale Art Week events include

Ignite Broward

Ignite Broward features light, sound projection displays Wednesday-Sunday January 24-28 in downtown Fort Lauderdale and in Dania.

The exhibits are free.

Displays include

  • 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays and 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday outside the Museum of Discovery & Science, 401 SW Second St., Fort Lauderdale, reservations online
  • 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays and 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Esplanade Park on Riverwalk, 400 SW Second St., Fort Lauderdale.
  • 10  a.m. to 8 p.m. January 24, 25 and 28, and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. January 26 and January 27 at Mad Arts, 481 S. Federal Highway, Dania Beach

Pompano Jazz Festival

Pompano Jazz Fest is January 18-20, register online for free tickets. The festival includes Grammy-award artists saxophonist Branford Marsalis, and saxophonist and flautist Najee. The popular regional group Valerie Tyson Band is part of the festival.

Oakland Park

Art exhibit and sale  featuring local artists 5 p.m. January 20,  Art In Oakland Park, 3478 NE 12th Terrace, Oakland Park 33334. Entry is free to the art exhibit. Parking is free.

A resin workshop at 3 p.m. is $50 – $80.


Pianist Ana Sinkovec Burstin performs 2 p.m. Sunday January 21 Bailey Hall and free tickets are available online.  Bailey Hall is at Broward College,  3501 Davie Road, Davie.


Ocean Scenes Exhibit, Fort Lauderdale

Exhibit featuring artist Pat Anderson and “Ocean Scenes on Fort Lauderdale Beach” is January 24-28 at W Fort Lauderdale, 401 N. Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale. The beachscapes are described as featuring “sparkling seas, luminous skies, verdant palms, and the … liveliness of beachgoers.”


“Harold & Kumar” in Fort Lauderdale

“Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle” film is featured at Gateway Theater,  1820 E Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, 10 p.m. Friday January 26, with an entry fee of $9.

The movie is presented by Laughing Gas Fest for its 20th anniversary.

Fort Lauderdale

Art Exhibition 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. January 27 with free entry. The venue is Ilan Pop Art Gallery, 954-408, 2854,  2000 S. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale 33316.  Painted mopeds by local artists and food tastings  are featured.  Parking is free.


Studios, galleries and other art venues are participating a Lauderdale Art Week event Saturday January 27 in downtown Hollywood. Please return for information on participants and specific events.

Avenue of the Arts Kid's Art Day, Fort Lauderdale

Art activities, chalk drawings, and live entertainment are featured Kid's Art Day 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. January 27 and January 28, with free entry.

January 27 youth design a robot that makes a a work of abstract art

January 28 magnetic bead art

Acton Academy, January 27 featuring art project in which kids transform thumb prints into wearable art

The venue is New River Child Care Learning Center, 120 Northwest Seventh Avenue, Fort Lauderdale 33311.  Limited free parking is offered.

Celebrate The Arts Day in Weston

The free Arts Day event includes interactive booths run by student groups and performances by school bands and ensembles. The event is 12 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. January 28 with free entry. An emphasis is on the interplay of technology and the arts. The event usually features a 28-foot Graffiti Wall, and an open-air art studio for painting and pottery hosted by Young at Art. The venue is Weston Town Center, 1675 Market Street, Weston.
