Starting Friday, October 7, 2022 Doral will be decked out in colorful paper decorations, with skulls, an alter, marigolds and other flowers in a month-long celebration for Spooky Season that will culminate with Day of the Dead festivities next month.
The community is invited to celebrate Dia de Los Muertos at CityPlace Doral 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, at Fountain Plaza. This is a free event.
The Day of the Dead (el Día de los Muertos), is a Mexican holiday where families welcome back the souls of their deceased relatives for a brief reunion that includes food, drink and celebration. A blend of Mesoamerican ritual, European religion and Spanish culture, the holiday is celebrated each year with delight.
This event will recognize the culturally rich Latin American tradition and connect with the community through a variety of activities. There will be face painting and food sampling from local restaurants, a center-wide processional, plus performances by folkloric dancers, stilt walkers, mariachis and costumed characters and patrons.
