Coral Gables’ 100 Voices highlights voices from yesteryear

Although the walls of the Merrick family home can't talk, people certainly can! And there are plenty of stories to tell. Now you can hear long-time locals wax nostalgic at the boyhood home of the City Beautiful's founder.

As Coral Gables approaches its 2025 centennial, the Merrick House brings you One Hundred Voices. This series of informal gatherings highlights the people, places and plots of the City Beautiful's first century through stories shared by locals who have lived it.

Next up: Sunday, at 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 6, features School Days: Tales from In and Out the Classroom. Entry: $5.

Listen to Gablelites Gay Bondurant, Lon Dowlen, Petsy Mesey and June Morris recall what it was like in the halls of their grades, in middle and high school, as well as what they did for fun before playdates were a thing.

Visit Merrick House, 405 Biltmore Way, Coral Gables. Call 305-446-6800.

Free parking is located behind the house, and public restrooms are available on-site.
