TY Park in Hollywood offers walking, jogging and bike paths with lake and oak trees

Topeekeegee-Yugnee Park in Hollywood - or TY Park, as it's known - is popular for a variety of outdoor activities. South Floridians love it because it's a great venue for walking, running or skating on a shady path around a lake lined with oaks. It's a venue for occasional festivals and live  entertainment.

T.Y. Park features

 Jim Babb, a Broward parks department official, offered his perspective:

Q: Why do people enjoy walking and biking at your park?

A: "The 2-mile walking path draws residents daily as they enjoy the opportunity to experience the scenic walk around the lake,"Babb says. "People love the huge live oaks that provide a cool shade canopy over much of the park.  T.Y. Park has the feel of a neighborhood park, while providing the amenities of a large regional park." 

Q: What are some features and amenities?

A: They include:

  • picnic areas
  • tennis, basketball, volleyball 
  • fitness equipment 
  • RV campground
  • water park open in Spring and summer 
  • playground and other amenities 

Q: What types of wildlife reside at T.Y.?

A: "T-Y Park is home to squirrels, green parrots, box turtles, peacock bass, Egyptian geese, egrets, and ibises among many others," Babb says.

Q: Where's your favorite place?

"Sitting lakeside watching the fountain," Babb says.

TY Park is  at 3300 N. Park Road, Hollywood. Entry is free week days.  Weekend and holiday entry fees are $3 for vehicles with 8 to eight people, and $20 for vehicles with at least 9 people.

Water park

The park features a lagoon pool and splash playground. It's open weekends in Spring and daily during summer, phone to verify it's open.

    I would appreciate as a Vendor knowing where to sell in Miami Dade County my Arts and crafts from Haiti and also my second hand clothing and homewares cause since COVID things have changed so am feeling lost, help!
