Here is a flash deal to save 50% off a New World Symphony concert. But the deal is only good through Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, so you will have to move fast.
Pacho Flores, the virtuoso Venezuelan trumpeter and bandleader, will make his New World Symphony debut alongside conductor Carlos Miguel Prieto.
The musicians will perform Gabriela Ortiz’s new trumpet concerto, written for Flores with a blend of celebratory fanfare and mambo-fueled improvisation. Flores’ own work, Cantos y Revueltas, explores Venezuelan folklore. Mexico’s heritage and Indian cultures are showcased in Carlos Chávez’s Sinfonía india and Silvestre Revueltas’ film score La noche de los mayas.
The program will feature these works:
- Chávez : Sinfonía india
- Ortiz : Altar de Bronce
- Flores : Cantos y Revueltas
- Revueltas : La Noche de los Mayas
Molly Turner also will conduct.
The program will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024. Tickets are regularly $40 to $125.
Through Thursday, Feb. 8, you can get two tickets for the Sunday matinee program for the price of one with promo code VALENTINE.
