As Miami on the Cheap readers, you know we do our best to round up all the free and cheap concerts and other entertainment in Miami-Dade County. But I'm willing to pay for good music, too, especially because the musicians who give the concerts need to get paid.
But when I looked for concerts of all types to attend, I couldn't find any single good source of music event listings. So I created one.
Check out Music in South Florida, a new website I created to share information about music of all genres. My goal is to become the most complete source of music events in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
I like all kinds of music. I like classical music and I like folk music. I like rock, I like blues, and I like good karaoke. I sing in two choruses (Nova Singers and South Florida Jubilee Chrous), plus I play piano and guitar. I am not a professional musician, but I like to make music and I like to hear others make music.
As I dipped into the music world, I discovered that so many people who like music aren't aware of all the groups and all the venues in South Florida to hear music. Music in South Florida is my attempt to bring all the musicians and music worlds together.
To succeed, the website needs the participation of all those who love music. The calendar of events is created primarily from user-generated listings. So if you list your music events, and you encourage your friends to list their music events, the calendar will be more complete. Listing your event is free, though we do offer an option to buy enhanced listings or advertising to give your event more prominence.
Sneak preview: Music events listed on the Music in South Florida calendar will also appear on the new Community Calendars of Miami on the Cheap, Fort Lauderdale on the Cheap and Palm Beach on the Cheap. More on those calendars later.
We will continue to write posts at Miami on the Cheap about free and cheap music events, but you should enter those listings at Music in South Florida as well.
