Free books, a fantasy forest and performances are included at the Broward Library StoryBook festival in Pembroke Pines.
StoryBook Festival in 2023 is 10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. November 18, and entry is free. The outdoor and indoor event is at Southwest Regional Library, 954-357-6580, 16835 Sheridan Street, Pembroke Pines 33331.
The promotional information provides a description. “…The festival provides a magical experience that encourages a love of reading and libraries through presentations by award-winning storytellers and literature-based performance groups.”
The event is geared to kids ages 10 and younger. It includes
- book giveaway to the first 1,000 kids
- Katie Adams performs with shadow puppets and audience participation
- ASM Music Schools young performers
- Storytellers Pat Nease and Carrie Sue Ayvar
- Pembroke Pines Art & Cultural Center guitar and piano students
- Virtual reality play, scavenger hunt and an estimation station learning game
- indoor and outdoor shows
- Stilt walkers
- “Good Ship Sarsaparilla” featuring Atlantic Coast Theatre
- author-illustrator Christopher Eliopoulos of “The Yawns Are Coming” and illustrator of the New York Times bestseller “Ordinary People Change the World”
- Fantasy Forest Tours featuring storybook characters
- costume Parade, youngsters are invited to wear costumes and join in
