Piano Slam is a classical, hip-hop and spoken word mash-up featuring Miami's top teen poets. 20 participating students will perform original poems they composed based on their life experiences or live classical music they heard in school.

Directed by award-winning Miami writer, actor and director Teo Castellanos, Piano Slam the student poets will perform alongside renowned piano duo Jeroen van Veen and Mike Del Ferro and DJ and synth player Anthony “Smurfio” Laurencio in a presentation by Dranoff 2 Piano Fusion and the Adrienne Arsht Center.

New this year at Piano Slam will be a live judging panel led by presidential poet laureate Richard Blanco and including Haitian poet Mecca “Grimo” Marcelin, Miami-Dade poet laureate Caridad Moro-Gronlier and Miami Book Fair executive director Lissette Mendez.

While the performance is free, first-access passes are required to guarantee seating. You can only get those passes by clicking here. There is a four-pass limit per guest.

Location: Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, 1301 Biscayne Blvd, Miami.
