Free performance of ‘Free Florida’ at Trinity Cathedral, Miami

“Free Florida” is a musical that tells the story of a modern family that is learning the history of Florida's freedom through the youngest daughter's school assignment.

Sunday, Aug. 13 from 5 to 7 p.m., Trinity Cathedral 464 NE 16th St., Miami.

The play uses the art of theatrical tableau, a dramatic technique that strategically freezes actors in poses, so the audience’s focus can be redirected to historical images and renderings cast on a screen to help bring the stories of runaway slaves in the 1800s to life.

While the play's plot is fictional, it is inspired by the true triumphs of real historical heroines and the show features original and contemporary music. Register to attend at the website.
