The faculty of the Miami International Piano Festival Academy will be tickling the ivories from Jan. 6-12 during a week-long concert series happening at the Miami Beach Woman's Club.
Each night will feature a new artist taking the stage and the schedule is as follows. All concerts are at 7 p.m. except for Jan. 11 which has an additional 4 p.m. performance and Jan. 12 which is at 5 p.m. at the Aventura Cultural Arts Center:
Monday, Jan. 6:
Performance by Stephen Beus, a soloist and accompanist whose program includes music by Lera Aurebach, Amy Beach, Nikolay Medtner and Liszt-Horowitz.
Tuesday, Jan. 7:
Reed Tetzloff whose national and international acclaim includes performing with various orchestras, performs music by Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Wagner and Scriabin.
Wednesday, Jan. 8:
Josu de Solaun, a Spanish protege who has performed all over the world will play compositions by Schumann and Prokofiev.
Thursday, Jan. 9:
Russian pianist Vyacheslav Gryaznov will perform an extensive concert including music by Borodin, Tchaikovsky, Mahler, Grieg, Rachmaninoff and Glinka as well as an original composition “Rhapsody in Black” based on themes from Gershwin's “Porgy and Bess.”
Friday, Jan. 10:
Florian Noack, a French pianist who plays festivals all over the world, performs music by Brahms, Scriabin, Bach and Korsakov.
Saturday, Jan. 11 at 4 and 7 p.m.:
Participants Recital I and II with the program To Be Announced.
Sunday, Jan. 12 at 5 p.m. at Aventura Cultural Arts Center:
Recording Artist Kemal Gekic performs an original composition as well as music by Chopin and Liszt. Gekic's recordings of the composer's music are considered some of the best in history.
