Mardi Gras celebrations in South Florida

In case you hadn't noticed, Ash Wednesday falls on Valentine's Day this year. The official date for Fat Tuesday celebrations aligns with the lunar cycle and is tied to the date of Easter for revelers in New Orleans. However, the time for masquerade balls and partying is more flexible and seasonal in South Florida.

Note: We would also like to remind you that while the annual Louisiana-style party has been canceled in downtown West Palm Beach for this year, there are still some extravagant festivities planned elsewhere. But since we focus on events that are wallet-friendly, our list only includes those relevant to budget-conscious readers.

We will be updating this list as more information becomes available. Here's what we found so far in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties for Mardi Gras 2024:

Palm Beach County

 

Delray Beach

$10 admission (plus tax) includes one hurricane drink. Starting at 11 a.m., on Sunday, Feb. 18, at Salt7, 32 SE 2nd Ave., Delray Beach, festivities continue for 12 hours, including:

  • Live jazz band
  • Food and drink specials
  • Hurricane drinks
  • Live dancers
  • Masquerade contest
  • Late night DJ
  • Beads galore

Broward

Hollywood

Revised Date

 A street festival for Mardi Gras is 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, February 25, at Hollywood Boulevard off 19th and 20th Avenues, Hollywood 33020. Entry is free. Parking on the street or in the garages requires a fee. Food and drinks are offered for purchase.


Fort Lauderdale

The Wharf in Fort Lauderdale is bringing its version of Bourbon Street to the New River. Mardi Gras Celebration is Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024, from noon to 4 p.m. Must be over 21.

Includes a king & queen contest and discount specialty drinks. No admission; beverage and food prices vary. Expect live entertainment and lots of beads! Located at 20 W. Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale.

Pompano
Lucky Fish Beach Bar + Grill

Beachfront Fat Tuesday party on Feb. 13 with cocktail specials and live music from 6 to 9 p.m. Lucky Fish Beach Bar & Grill, 222 N. Pompano Beach Blvd.


Miami-Dade

Mardi Gras celebration on 3 stages at The Fish House, South Miami

Three stages with Zydeco, Jazz, and the Blues. Crawfish boil flown in from New Orleans, King Cake, beads and so much fun. Free Community Event. Food & beverage prices vary.

Downtown

Revelers can celebrate Mardi Gras at Julia & Henry's on Saturday, Feb. 17, from 7 to 11 p.m.

Features a live band, with plentiful decorations, beads, glitz and fun galore. No admission; prices vary.
