Arsht Center’s ‘Live on the Plaza’ outdoor music showcase

The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts is a busy place with plenty of indoor shows but its outdoor Live on the Plaza events are perfectly suited for a line-up of local artists during the somewhat cooler Miami months. Concerts are at 7:30 p.m. at the Thomson Plaza for the Arts @ Ziff Ballet Opera House 1300 Biscayne Blvd., Miami. 305-949-6722. Tickets: $20.

Virtuoso violinist Daniela Padrón performs Latin American music with an all-star ensemble that showcases the versatility of the Venezuelan cuatro played by Henry Linarez, Javier Espinoza on bass and Adolfo Herrera on percussion. Based in Miami, Venezuelan-American Padrón is a two-time Latin Grammy nominee. She has released several solo albums, including LATAM, recorded with her mother, renowned pianist Olga López.

In his thriving 38-year career, Calixto Oviedo (@calixto_oviedo), a Latin Grammy nominee for La Rumba del Siglo (2000), has collaborated with renowned global artists such as Paquito D'Rivera, Arturo Sandoval, Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Chucho Valdés. With Calixto Oviedo and the Cuban Jazz Train, he aims to reshape the connection between Afro-Cuban music and jazz.
