Free Jazz on the Green concert at MDC Kendall Campus

MDC Kendall Campus' student ensemble and all-star faculty come together to present a free Jazz on the Green concert Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m. on the Lawn area of the campus between Buildings M and N.

Directed by James Broderick, Chairman of the Performing Arts & Industries Department; and Professor Matthew Bonelli, director of Jazz Studies at Kendall Campus, Jazz on the Green brings together MDC’s premiere student ensembles along with its all-star faculty, including saxophonist Dr. Ed Calle, jazz vocalist Wendy Pedersen, pianist Hal Roland, saxophonist Tom McCormick and more. WDNA’s Cary Alexander will be Master of Ceremonies.

The outdoor evening concert will feature vocal and instrumental performances of classic jazz standards such as Joy Spring by Clifford Brown, Bossa Nova O Barquinho (Little Boat) by Brazilian composer Roberto Menescalas, Four by Miles Davis, as well as Twisted, the 1940’s bebop classic written by Wardell Gray.

MDC’s Jazz on the Green evening concert was created to bring the community together, promote jazz and gain knowledge and appreciation for this dynamic field of music. Seating for Jazz on the Green is first come, first served. Local food trucks as well as student clubs will be present selling concessions. No outside food, coolers or drinks are permitted.
