If you like being out and about without spending a wad of dough, Broward offers plenty of free and inexpensive festivals, holiday events and live entertainment. Those activities include festivities for St. Patrick's Day and Easter, as well as festivals, art shows and free concerts, with many events to choose from every day

World Fest

Free entry for World Fest in Weston

World Fest in Weston is a free event with international foods, art, and live entertainment. Weston World Fest is 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 3, and entry is free. International fare and drinks are offered for purchase from regional restaurants and other food vendors. The event is at Weston Regional Park,  20200 Saddle Club Road, Weston. Parking is free.

Dania Beach Wine and Seafood Festival

Dania Beach Wine & Seafood Festival offers free entry

The Dania Beach Wine and Seafood Festival is 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 9, and entry is free. Live bands, artists and food for purchase are included in the festivities. Other features include

  • wine and beer vendors
  • sand sculpture
  • interactive chalk art

The festival is at Dania Beach City Hall Plaza, 100 West Dania Beach Boulevard, Dania Beach 33004.  Free parking is offered at the Dania garage and other locations, which include free shuttles. Pets are permitted.

Las Olas Art Fair

The Las Olas Art Fair is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 2, and Sunday, March 3, on Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale. Entry is free. Parking is about $3 an hour. 

Riverwalk International Food Festival

Free entry for Riverwalk International Food Festival

Entry is free for Riverwalk International Food Festival. The festival  is 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, March 23, at Esplanade Park on Riverwalk. Food and drinks are offered for purchase, and vendors are requested to price at least one item at $5. A

rt and artisan vendors are included at the event. Entertainment is provided by a DJ and games are part of the festivities.  Esplanade Park is at 400 SW Second Street, Fort Lauderdale 33312. Parking is usually about $3 an hour.

St. Patrick's Day Parades and Festivals

Irish dancers, floats, and live bands are part of  vibrant St. Patrick's Day parades and festivals Sunday, March 10, on Hollywood Boulevard and Harrison Street in Hollywood and Saturday, March 16, on Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale.

Water Matter Day

Free trees for Broward residents at Water Matters Day in Davie

Educational exhibits, vendors and the opportunity for free trees for Broward residents  is offered at Water Matters Day, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at Tree Tops Park in Davie.  Entry into the park is $3 per vehicle with up to 8 people. Tree Tops Park is at 3900 SW 100 Ave., Davie 33328.

Easter egg hunts

Plenty of Easter egg hunts for youngsters are offered in parks, plazas and sports fields. Some are free. The egg hunts are usually for younger kids and often include photo ops with the Easter Bunny. For older kids ages 11-15, a flashlight egg hunt is offered in Pompano Beach.

Free outdoor concerts

Groove on the Grass in Tamarac is 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, March 1m featuring  T-Wave. Entry is free.  The venue is Caporella Park, 5200 Prospect Road.

Nicole Yarling offers a program on African American fiddlers at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 2, and entry requires online registration. The venue is the African American Research Library, 954-357-6282, 2650 Sistrunk Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale 33311.

Free live music at Hollywood bandshell is at 7 to 9 p.m. every Wednesday through Sunday on the beach. Entry is free. Fees apply for parking.

Free Jazz Brunch  11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, March 3, with performers at different points along picturesque Riverwalk and Esplanade Park, 400 SW 2nd Street, Fort Lauderdale

WestonNights in Weston includes 7 p.m. Saturday, March 9, with Wonderama performing Top 40 favorites. Entry and parking are free. Food trucks are at the event. The venue is Weston  Regional Park, 20200 Saddle Club Road, Weston 33326.

Tunes n' Trucks features disco and funk band Studio 54 at 7 p.m. Friday, March 15, at Flamingo Park, 12855 NW 8th Street, in Sunrise.  6 p.m., food trucks set up.

Free Noon Tunes at 12 p.m. Wednesdays in March at Stranahan Park, 10 E. Broward Blvd., Fort Lauderdale.

Coral Springs

GardenFest and Coral Springs Festival of the Arts is loaded with information, vendors and entertainment. The event is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 16, and Sunday, March 17, and entry is free. The Walk is at  2874 N. University Drive, Coral Springs

Touch a Truck events

For kids and families, Touch A Truck events offer an opportunity to interact with parked vehicles and talk to the professionals who drive them. 

A free Touch A Truck event is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 9, and entry is free. The venue is the Butterfly Lot, 5280 NW 40th Street, Coconut Creek.

Touch A Truck in Plantation is 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 16, and entry is free. The venue is Plantation Equestrian facilities, 954-476-4316, 1451 NW 118th Avenue, Plantation 33323.
