The University of Miami’s Bill Cosford Cinema has a free film series – Global Frontiers, the perfect event for movie lovers and people who care about current events.
The Academy Award-nominated film Minari telling the heartwarming and heart wrenching story of a Korean family, will screen on Saturday, May 20 at 5 p.m.
This is the seventh event of Cosford Cinema’s groundbreaking film series, Global Frontiers. The film depicts the tender, funny and evocative story of a Korean-American family who move to an Arkansas farm in pursuit of their American Dream. The film received six nominations at the 93rd Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Score, Best Original Screenplay, Best Actor, and Best Supporting Actress (Youn). Youn won the award for her performance, making her the first Korean actor to win an Academy Award.
Regina Ahn, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Strategic Communication at the University of Miami School of Communication, will lead an engaging discussion before and after the screening. The conversation will focus on the challenges faced by migrant families, parental mediation, and social media.
