The Museum of Contemporary Art in North Miami is the place to check out groundbreaking and thought-provoking exhibitions and catch live jazz acts on the last Friday of the month during the free Jazz at MOCA. However, it’s also where to go for other free events.
Here’s what’s coming up this week:
March 7: MOCA miniMakers: HamacaS from 2-4 p.m.
This hands-on art workshop for kids ages 6-12 will be led by artist Liene Bosquê. She will present a weaving experience where kids participate in her interactive installation called “HamacaS.” During the workshop, kids will learn collaborative weaving techniques and participate in a group project. March 11: MOCA Moving Images: Weaving on Film from 7-9 p.m.
The screening is of a 16mm film and digital video Weaving on Filmabout weaving and the culture surrounding the age-old craft. The screening is followed by a talk led by artist Liene Bosquê and project coordinator Ana Clara Silva. This event is in conjunction with the artists’s current installation “HamacaS.” RSVP required.
