Free family drive-in film at park in Sunrise

For a free family excursion, Sunrise Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a free drive-in animated film.

Drive-ins and other free family films in Sunrise in 2025 include:

  •  6:30 p.m. Friday, January 3, with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. The movie is “Inside Out 2.” Watch the movie from inside your vehicle with sound from your radio. Or bring a lawn seat. Purchase snacks from food vendors at the event or bring your own.
  • 6:30 p.m. Friday, February 7, at Piper Field, 8000 NW 44th St. The film is “Twisters.” This is not a drive-in, so bring lawn chairs or blankets.
  • 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 7, at the Sunrise Athletic Complex, 11501 NW 44th St. The film is “Despicable Me 4.” This is not a drive-in, so bring lawn chairs or blankets.

The venue is Markham Park, 16001 W. State Road 84, Sunrise 33326.

Markham Park

If you'd like to participate in other amenities, Markham Park includes a model airplane field, disc golf, dog park, nature trail, personal watercraft lake, picnic facilities, racquetball, tennis, pickleball, bike rentals, observatory and other features. Information is online.

Entry for the park is free on week days. On weekends and holidays, entry fees are $1.50 for ages 6 and older.
