The National Chopin Piano Competition is coming to Miami and – for piano lovers – here's a real treat: The preliminary rounds, quarterfinals and semifinals will all be free and open to the public. The competitions will take place at Miami-Dade County Auditorium.
Twenty-six contestants will be competing from 10 states: Alexander Agate, Nadia Azzi, William Davidson, Stanley DeLage, Avery Gagliano, Misha Galant, Umi Garrett, Chelsea Guo, Fantee Jones, Timothy Jones, Sherry Kim, Katie Liu, Anastasiya Magamedova, Dominic Muzzi, Mary Ogawa, Evren Ozel, Christopher Richardson, Victor Shlyakhtenko, Talon Smith, Daniel Szefer, Eric Tran, Athena Tsianos, Parker Van Ostrand, Chanel Wang, Victor Xie and Min Joo Yi
Here's when you can catch highly gifted pianists performing as they vie for the $100,000 prize:
- Preliminary Rounds, Feb. 22 and 23, Session I from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Session II from 2-5 p.m.
- Quarterfinals, Feb. 24 and 25, Session I from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Session II from 2-5 p.m.
- Semifinals, Feb. 26 and 27, Session I from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Session II from 2-5 p.m.

The ones announced in our post are all free and don't require tickets however the performances later into the week do. You can click on the link in our post and it will take you to the Chopin Competition site.
