For those who appreciate enticing and budget-friendly things to do in Broward, April offers festivals and events with live entertainment that don't require a wad of dough.

Free & Inexpensive festivals and other events  in April 2024 include

Dancing in the Street, Oakland Park

Slip into your dancing shoes for Dancing in The Street 6 p.m. – 10 p.m.  Friday, April 5 on Northeast 12th Avenue in Oakland Park. The block party is between Oakland Park Boulevard and Northeast 38th Street. Entry and parking are free.

The event offers food trucks, art, a kids' zone and lots of live bands to dance to. Entertainment includes School of Rock, Bobby Nathan Band, Solid Brass Band and others.

Riverwalk International Food Festival in Fort Lauderdale

Tasty fare from different parts of the globe is offered for purchase at Riverwalk International Food Festival.  Munch on dishes from restaurants and food trucks.  The festival is 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at Esplanade Park, 400 SW Second Street, Fort Lauderdale 33312. Entry is free. Parking is about $3 an hour. The festival includes art and artisan vendors, games and DJ entertainment. 

Groove on the Grass, Tamarac

Groove on The Grass entertains attendees 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, April 5 in Tamarac.  Smooth STB performs Santana hits. The event includes inflatables for youngsters and food trucks.

The venue is Tamarac Sports Complex,  9901 NW 77th Street, Tamarac. Entry and parking are free.

Sound Waves, Fort Lauderdale

Friday Night Sound Waves offers free live entertainment at Las Olas Oceanside Park in Fort Lauderdale. Entry is free. Fees apply for parking.

Salsa Fest in Hollywood

The lively spicy sounds of Salsa are featured at Salsa Fest 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, April 13 at ArtsPark on Hollywood Boulevard and Federal Highway. Entry is free and the event includes a variety of live entertainers.

Earth Day events with free entry include

  • Earth Day festival in Sunrise is 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday April 6, and entry is free. The event includes a  kids' area, performances, and educational displays. The venue is Sawgrass Sanctuary park, with free entry and free parking. 
  • Earth Day The Weston Way  is 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday April 20 at Library Park, 4255 Bonaventure Boulevard, Weston.
  • Live bands and environmental exhibits are featured at an Earth Day event 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. Saturday, April 20 at the beach in Hollywood. Mother Ocean Music Festival is at the Hollywood Bandshell on Johnson Street. Entry is free. Parking fees apply.
  • Other Earth Day events in South Florida

Parks Fest, Tradewinds Park

Parks Fest at Tradewinds Park includes Florida Youth Orchestra, food trucks and kids activities.  Entry to Parks Fest, which is 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Sunday, April 21, is free.  Parking is $5.
