Family Fun Day for MLK holiday in Tamarac

Go to a parade. Participate in a festival and listen to live music. Broward offers varied events for the Martin Luther King  holiday.

The federal holiday emphasizes social and political freedom and equality. Festivities recognize the accomplishments and values of King, who promoted peaceful  advocacy for social justice.

MLK events in 2025 in Broward include

Hollywood

Live music

7 p.m. – 1o p.m. Friday, January 17 at ArtsPark at Federal Highway and Hollywood Boulevard. Entertainment includes Fushu Daiko taiko drumming, ReaXion Band and others with free entry. Parking is $1.50 per hour. Garage Parking is $1 per hour.

•  251 S. 20th Ave., between Harrison and Van Buren streets
•  251 N. 19th Ave., between Tyler and Polk streets

Oakland Park

Bounce houses, face painting, balloon artist, food vendors and The Levi Knowles Experience band are featured at the event 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday, January 18 at Wimberly Field, 4000 NE 3^rd Avenue 33334, Oakland Park. The event includes free ice cream.

Tamarac

The fest is 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, January 18, with free entry. The event includes food trucks, local vendors, and bounce houses. 

Entertainment includes:

• Joy Deco
• Ambitious Legacy Dance Ensemble
• Vision Dance Company

Hollywood

Fun Day

1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, January 18, is a Fun Day, which includes  bounce house, entertainment and food for purchase at the MLK recreation building. The address is 2400 Charleston Street, Hollywood 33020.

Pompano Beach

Parade and Fest

The parade is 9 a.m. Monday, January 20 from Ely High School, 1201 NW 6th Avenue, Pompano 33060, to Moore Park.

The fest is about 11 a.m. to- 5:30 p.m.  January 20 at the park, 901 NW 10th St, Pompano Beach 33060. The festival includes kids area, entertainment, and food trucks

Pembroke Pines

Dance and other performers, including The Voices of Liberty at 11 a.m., are included at the festivities 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, January 20 in Pembroke Pines.

The venue is City Center, 601 City Center Way.

Fort Lauderdale

The parade is 9:30 a.m. Monday, January 20, from Sistrunk Boulevard and Northwest Fifth Avenue, west on Sistrunk Boulevard, north on Northwest 15th Avenue. The parade includes bands from local schools, entertainment and floats.

A festival is after the parade to  3 p.m. at Carter Park, 1450 W. Sunrise Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale. The festival food vendors and activities. The Teen Zone features basketball, drumline performance, Queen K, photo booth, and open mic. Entry is free. Parking is free.

Gospel Extravaganza 

Gospel and other entertainment are featured at Gospel Extravaganza from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, January 25, at Lincoln Park,  600 NW 19th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale.

Deerfield Beach

MLK Parade and Event Monday, January 20, at McKeithen Recreation, 445 SW 2^nd St., Deerfield Beach.

Event with entertainment and free food  is 10:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Pioneer Park, 217 NE 5th Ave, Deerfield Beach 33441.

Miramar

The parade & festival is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, January 20, at Lakeshore Park in Miramar.

The event includes entertainment and things for kids to do. Feel free to bring blankets or  portable seats.
