Lake Worth bonfires offer free music and fun

Lake Worth Beach’s free oceanside bonfires are back for the 2022-2023 season with the city-sponsored gatherings happening two Fridays a month through February.

What to bring to the bonfire

Pack your towels, beach chairs, coolers and s’mores kits to the Lake Worth Municipal Beach just north of the Lake Worth Pier. You might want to bring a flashlight.
There, you will find a bonfire in the sand from 6 to 10 pm, weather permitting. You can make your way to the water or stay above the crowd on the boardwalk that faces the ocean.
If you are feeling extra, pick up some glow-in-the-dark bracelets and necklaces from a dollar store for you and your crew.

Where to park

There is a $3-per-hour fee to park in the city lot just west of the beach. Overflow parking is available across State Road A1A at Old Bridge Park.
Feel the sea breeze in your hair as you experience the unusual-for-Palm-Beach-County nighttime beach access.

Where to eat

If you don’t have time to pack snacks and drinks, you can pick up a pizza from beachside Mama Mia’s or some chocolates from the nearby Kilwins.
Or plan ahead, and make a reservation at the one of the popular waterfront open-air dining spots: Viva La Playa or Benny’s on the Beach.

About the music

A live band is scheduled to provide music for each bonfire, and that adds to the Friday night vibe.
Jan. 6 – Mitch Herrick – rock
Jan. 20 – The Killbillies – folk
Feb. 3 – Neil Freestone – acoustic
Feb. 17 – Tuxedo Zebra – rock cover band
Of note: Dogs are permitted on the boardwalk, but not on the sand.
