Juneteenth: Unity x Black Excellence Festival.

It’s official. Juneteenth National Independence Day is now a U.S .legal holiday. The holiday, celebrated June 19, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States back in 1865. Here are some Palm Beach County Juneteenth Celebrations.

BOYNTON BEACH

Sara Sims Park, at 209 NW Ninth Ave., from noon to 4 p.m. FREE. Juneteenth a Celebration of Freedom. Celebrate this inaugural event at the park with food, music, the spoken word and entertainment with performances from All or Nothing Dance Co., Goofy Certified and Big Jay and much more. Enjoy children’s activities, nonprofit booths, food from Tikiz Ice Cream and Tasty Island Delights.

RIVIERA BEACH

Riviera Beach Celebrates Juneteenth.

Riviera Beach Marina Village Event Center. 190 E. 13th St., from 1 – 8 p.m.. FREE. Celebrate Juneteenth: Unity x Black Excellence FestivalCome out for food, fun and games, music, activities and community resources. Have an opportunity to shop and support Black-owned businesses. WELLINGTON

Village of Wellington Amphitheater, 2100 Forest Hill Blvd., from noon to 6 p.m. FREE.“Redteenth” celebrates both World Sickle Cell Day and Juneteenth in one event. Join the Sickle Cell Foundation of Palm Beach and Treasure Coast Inc., for a cultural festival with the spoken word, musical performances and arts and crafts for the kids. The event hopes to spark awareness and raise public support for those affected by this disease and related conditions. 

WEST PALM BEACH

Norton Museum of Art, 1450 S. Dixie Hwy., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. FREE with museum admission. Museum admission is free for residents of Palm Beach County on Saturdays through Labor Day. Norton Museum of Art’s Summer Festival: Juneteenth CelebrationCelebrate freedom and the African American experience in this cultural event hosted by MC Wayne “Mister Trombone” Perry. Enjoy storytelling sessions by the Literacy Coalition, African Dance and drum workshops, live musical performances and tours. The museum is offering timed ticket entry. Meyer Amphitheater, 104 Datura St., from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. FREE. Declaration Juneteenth Solidarity Celebration. Enjoy an evening celebrating music and the arts. Meet artists and enjoy live music and theater. Local community organizations will represent themselves, setting up booths with information about what they do. There will be voter registration and free Moderna Covid 19 vaccinations and plenty of food available for purchase.
