The annual Overtown Music & Arts Festival produced by Headliner Market Group celebrates the rich history of one of Miami’s earliest historically black communities and where some of music’s biggest stars — such as Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington and Billie Holiday — performed and stayed.
The free festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. July 13 on Northwest Second and Third Avenue, between Eighth and 10th streets in Miami.
It will include live performances by Grammy award winning and local talent including Melanie Fiona, Jagged Edge, Ne-Yo, Pleasure P, Chante Moore, Michael Sterling, Tito Puente, Mario, Fred Hammond, Tank, Yolanda Adams, Felixx, Gia Wyre and Cedric Brazle; vendors showcasing artwork, ethnic cuisine, unique crafts, jewelry and a vast array of entertainment. Food and drinks also will be available for purchase.
The event also will include a Youth Zone presented by Teens Exercising Extraordinary Success. Activities this year include arts & crafts like slime making and chalk the block, fitness programs and What's Cooking where kids can learn to make chicken stir fry with brown rice, fried chicken sushi rolls and sugar cookies.
