Kids read to dogs during ‘Furry Tales’ at Miami libraries

Parents interested in boosting their child's reading skills, while also improving their self-confidence, can register them to participate in Furry Tales, a program presented by the Miami-Dade Public Library System.

Literacy is important and what better way than to encourage it by combining the activity with some adorable paw-footed friends ready to listen? Children are given the opportunity to read stories aloud to official Therapy Dogs.

Once registered, just take your child's favorite book from home or choose from the library’s collection to participate in the program.

For more details, visit mdpls.org for a list of scheduled events, times and locations at various libraries around the county that offer the program.

It is usually held on a Friday or Saturday for about an hour or more through May, 2024. Some listings are appropriate for all ages, while others may specify ages 6-11 or 3-8, etc.

To register, there are phone numbers and emails with each listing.
