This year's International Children's Day program in Miami-Dade will include a full afternoon of family fun, including a free Spanish-language theater performance.
The event is co-presented by Teatro Avante and is part of Miami-Dade County Auditorium's Away From Home Series and the 38th International Hispanic Theatre Festival. It will include arts and crafts, food, activities, theatre workshops and a performance of Peneque, Cien Por Cien Valiente (Peneque, Always Brave)
Festivities will be 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 21, 2024, at the Koubek Center, 2705 SW 3 St., Miami.
The play is a love story about the paths and secrets of a puppeteer. Miguelito’s first days of life are filled with imagination including a small pumpkin that is his first toy, and as he converses with it and other objects around him, the smiles lead him to realize the pumpkin is his first puppet.
This is the schedule of events:
- 2 to 3 p.m. Face painting, stilt walker and combo meals distribution
- 2:30 to 5 p.m. Carnival games
- 3-5 p.m.: Painting, puppetry, dance and percussion workshops
- 3 & 5 p.m. Performance of Peneque, Cien Por Cien Valiente (Peneque, Always Brave)
The event is free but RSVP is required.
