Looking for something different to do? Consider spending the day soaking up the culture with tours of Miami literary arts hot spots around town. Because it's free. Join a symposium, attend a book signing, or just browse the literary landscape. This inaugural Tropic Bound Artists’ Book Fair is what's happening Friday-Sunday, Feb. 17-19. Events start at noon on Friday to 6 p.m.; from 10 a.m. on Saturday through 7 p.m.; and on Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. It all starts in the Miami Design District at Paradise Plaza, 151 NE 41st St., Miami. This international book fair will not only feature authors, but also artists, publishers, curators, librarians, book lovers and the aesthetically-curious who will gather to spotlight the art of books, and books that are art. This is your chance to mingle with over 60 exhibitors from the USA, Mexico, Cuba, Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Egypt and England.
A Welcome Day of events proceeds the fair with shuttle tours, a symposium with keynote speaker Tia Blassingame and panel talk “Beyond Florida Man: the surprising depth of Miami’s literary arts landscape,” and a sunset welcome party. General admission is $10.
