Florida Free Fishing Days

Are you fishing for some family fun? Florida offers several free fishing days, when anglers of all ages are allowed to fish on public bodies of water without a license.

Florida has several free fishing days every year, with separate days for freshwater and saltwater fishing. You can learn more about Florida fishing rules here. All other rules (e.g., seasons, bag and size limits) apply. Here is the schedule of Florida free fishing days:

License-free freshwater days

  • First Saturday and Sunday in April
  • Second Saturday and Sunday in June

License-free saltwater days

  • First Saturday and Sunday in June
  • First Saturday in September
  • Saturday following Thanksgiving

The saltwater waiver applies to any recreational harvest requiring a saltwater fishing license (e.g., crabbing, lobstering, scalloping, etc.) as well as fishing from shore or a boat. A snook or spiny lobster permit are not required on these days.
