Gingold Chamber Music Festival Virtuosi Concert

The Josef Gingold Chamber Music Festival of Miami will present three weeks of music performances at Barry University in Miami Shores from July 9-30, 2023. Performances are open to the public. Many are free, but a few are $15.

Cuban-born violinist Andrés Cárdenes is music and artistic director for the event, which brings young artists and music faculty from around the world to study.

The public will have the opportunity to hear many renowned chamber musicians in concert. Featured performers will include violinists Andrés Cárdenes, Gary Levinson, Yuriy Bekker and Lucie Robert, pianists Wendy Chen, Jeffrey Cohen, and Angela Cheng, cellists Rafael Figueroa, Christine Lamprea and Julian Schwarz, violists Michael Klotz, David Aaron Carpenter and Milan Milisavljevic.

Thursday, July 13, 7:30 p.m. Student recital of chamber music

The events will be at the Andy Gato Gallery at Barry University. Admission is free.

Friday, July 14, 7:30 p.m. Faculty Concert

PENDERECKI String Trio
MOZART Duo in B-flat Major, No. 2, K. 424
CHEN YI At the Kansas City Chinese New Year Concert
BRAHMS Piano Quartet No. 3 in C minor, Op. 60

Performers will be:

  • Andrés Cárdenes, violin
  • Gary Levinson, violin
  • Yuriy Bekker, violin
  • Michael Klotz, viola
  • Milan Milisavljevic, viola
  • Rafael Figueroa, cello
  • Wendy Chen, piano

Saturday, July 15, 7:30 p.m. Gingold Virtuosi Concert

Music of Brahms, Mozart, Ravel, and Schumann
Performers will include Festival artist faculty alongside select Festival young artists.

The concert will be in the Cor Jeru Chapel at Barry University. Admission is free.

Thursday, July 20, 7:30 p.m. Student recital of chamber music

The events will be at the Andy Gato Gallery at Barry University. Admission is free.

Friday, July 21, 7:30 p.m. Faculty Concert

PAGANINI Sonata Concertata in A Major, M.S. 2, for Violin and Guitar
PAGANINI Guitar Quartet in A minor
UNG Khse Buon for Viola solo
SCHUMANN Sonata No. 1 for Violin and Piano in A minor, Op. 105
DVORAK Piano Quartet No. 2 in E-flat Major, Op. 87

Performers will be:

Performers include Festival artist faculty alongside select Festival young artists.

Wednesday, July 26, 7:30 p.m. Inaugural New Works Concert

Composers and instrumentalists will collaborate on new chamber music compositions.

The events will be at the Andy Gato Gallery at Barry University. Admission is free.

Thursday, July 27, 7:30 p.m. Student recital of chamber music

Friday, July 28, 7:30 p.m. Faculty Concert

GARCIA Piano Quartet “Contra corriente”
DVORAK Piano Quintet No. 2 in A Major, Op. 81

Barry University is at 11300 NE 2nd Ave, Miami Shores, FL 33168. The Cor Jesu Chapel is west of the Campus Mall and south of the Shepard & Ruth K. Broad Performing Arts Center. The Andy Gato Gallery is on the second floor of Thomson Hall, which is south of the Cor Jesu Chapel.
