Festival organizers, libraries and galleries in Broward offer engaging events, live entertainment & exhibits focusing on Black History.
Lots of events, performances and exhibits in 2025 are featured in February for Black History Month. Plenty of the events are free.
There are also Black History Month events in Palm Beach County and Black History Month events in Miami-Dade, some of which are worth traveling for.

Art Exhibits in Fort Lauderdale
- Art Show & Sale at History Fort Lauderdale is 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. in February featuring artwork by students at Dillard Center For The Arts in Fort Lauderdale. - Art & Literature of the Harlem Renaissance is featured February 3 – June 28 at African American Research Library & Cultural Center, 2650 Sistrunk Blvd., Fort Lauderdale
- Broward Art Guild is featuring an exhibit in February at the Broward Art Guild Gallery, 2052 E. Oakland Park Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale
Soul Fest in Oakland Park
Groove to tunes by The Derek Mack Band. Entry is free entry for Soul Fest in Oakland Park 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. Friday February 7 with live entertainment and food trucks offering food and drinks for purchase.
The venue is Pastorius Park, 4000 N. Dixie Highway, Oakland Park. Parking is free. Soul Fest festivities are among an various events in Broward in recognition of Black History Month.
Super Bowl Watch Party in Miramar
Super Bowl Watch Party is 6:30 p.m. February 9, and entry is free, while space is available. Miramar is hosting the event as part of its Black History events. The event is at the cultural center, 2400 Civic Center Place. RSVP online.
Tiger Trail Festival in Pompano Beach
Fun activities for kids, vendors and live entertainment are featured at the Free Tiger Trail Street Festival in Pompano, with festivities recognizing Black History Month.
The parade is at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, February 15, and the festival is 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Entry is free.
Sistrunk Parade and Festival in Fort Lauderdale
The Sistrunk parade 8:30 a.m. Saturday February 22 features steppers, floats and vintage vehicles. The route is Lincoln Park, 600 NW 19th Ave., Fort Lauderdale 33311, east on Sistrunk Boulevard to Northwest Ninth Avenue.
The festival is about 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. February 22 on Sistrunk Boulevard from Northwest Ninth Avenue to Northwest 13th Avenue. The event includes live bands, games, and vendors. A Kid's Zone is included.
Nicole Yarling in Pompano
Vocalist and Violinist Nicole Yarling performs in Pompano & it's free
Jazz vocalist and jazz violinist Nicole Yarling performs 7:30 p.m. Thursday, February 27 with free reservations offered online.
The venue is Pompano Cultural Center, 50 W. Atlantic Boulevard, Pompano Beach 33060.
Events at Broward Libraries
Julius and Julia Sanna of Positively Africa, an Afro-fusion band, entertain kids and families with songs, dances and tales from the Luo and Zigua tribes of Africa.
