Afro Roots Music Fest

It's going to be a day of fun under the giant oak trees on Saturday, April 22 during the Afro Roots Music Fest at Oak Grove Park, 690 NE 159 St. in North Miami.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their percussion instruments to the show. Click here to RSVP to the free show.

The afternoon kicks off at 3 p.m. with DJ KUMI who will spin before the main performance by Haitian Master Drummer and Roots music legend Sanba Zao.

Zao, who was born Louis Lesly Marcelin, comes to Miami from his native Haiti where he is a professor at L'Ecole National des Arts, Haiti's national arts school and also runs an elementary school Bazilo Ecole Communautairei. He has devoted his life to promoting his country's culture and music. The elementary school was one of the first to open after Haiti's devastating earthquake in 2010.
