When evenings are little cooler, many folks like to spend more time outdoors, in nature. And if you are the eco-adventurous type who enjoys daytime birdwatching, owl walks and nature trails or campfires and night hikes, here is a list of some of the best that Miami-Dade Parks have to offer. Campfire and Night Hike

Arch Creek Park, North Miami

Take a night-time stroll into some of the various natural ecosystems of South Florida alongside a naturalist guide to discover the marvelous nocturnal life of the park at dusk. Experience the sights and sounds of eastern screech owls, raccoons, night spiders, and many more nocturnal natives. $10.

Campfire and Night Hike

Castellow Hammock Park, South Miami

Venture into the beautiful Tropical Hardwood Hammock with a naturalist guide and experience the sights and sounds of eastern screech owls, raccoons, nighttime spiders and much more. Following the night hike, join the naturalists around the campfire for storytelling. Bring your marshmallows for roasting. $10.

Bill Sadowski Park, South Miami

Castellow Hammock Park, South Miami

EcoAction Day needs volunteers

A.D. Barnes Park Nature Center, South Miami

These one-day community-wide service events take place throughout the year and are perfect for individuals who are looking to volunteer for a few hours at Miami-Dade Parks. Park Service Day events are hosted at various park sites throughout the year. Free.
