See students and guest artists from Paris Ballet and Dance at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, May 27, at 7 p.m., for a “mixed bill” performance, featuring world-renowned ballets such as the Swan Lake Suite, Paquita Pas de Deux, and much more. Regular ticket prices start at $14.
The story is about a magician who casts a spell on a young woman who is a swan by day. The spell can only be broken by a man who will promise to love her for all time.
The music is by the Russian composer Tchaikovsky, who in 1871 wrote a short musical ballet for his nephews and nieces, based on the Swan Lake legend. Four years later, he was commissioned to write a full-length score for the Moscow Imperial Opera at the Bolshoi.
The dancers are from Paris Ballet & Dance, a pre-professional training academy in Jupiter, under the direction of founder and choreographer Jean-Hugues Feray.
The show:
- Act I = 75 minutes
- Intermission = 15 minutes
- Act II = 40 minutes
Parents are asked not to take children under 4 years old to the performance.
