The story is about a magician who casts a spell on a young woman who is a swan by day. The spell can only be broken by a man who will promise to love her for all time.

The music is by the Russian composer Tchaikovsky, who in 1871 wrote a short musical ballet for his nephews and nieces, based on the Swan Lake legend. Four years later, he was commissioned to write a full-length score for the Moscow Imperial Opera at the Bolshoi.

The dancers are from Paris Ballet & Dance, a pre-professional training academy in Jupiter, under the direction of founder and choreographer Jean-Hugues Feray.

The show:

  • Act I = 75 minutes
  • Intermission = 15 minutes
  • Act II = 40 minutes

Parents are asked not to take children under 4 years old to the performance.

Where: Alexander W. Dreyfoos Concert Hall, Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, 701 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach.

Tickets: Box Office phone: 561-832-7469, Monday-Saturday noon-5 p.m.
