Broward Library waives fines for overdue books

Broward Library is doing away with fines for overdue books and other items on loan to patrons.

Fines won't add up if items are returned after the due date. If an old book is sitting in drawer in your home, feel free to return it. Pending fines on patrons' accounts are waived.

Foregoing fines is part of a national trend in the library industry and in line with recommendations from the American Library Association, according to Broward Library representatives.

Patrons are encouraged to return items when they are due to accommodate others, and library users are responsible for misplaced or damaged items, according to library information.

Broward Library offers a variety of items including Free birdwatching equipment on loan from libraries.

Information about items on loan and digital resources are on the Broward Library website.
