February is Black History Month and there are free and cheap festivities honoring the achievements of African-Americans throughout South Florida in 2025. Here are some of the many celebrations of Black History Month in Miami-Dade.
Achievements of African Americans are also being celebrated with Black History Month events in Broward and Black History Month events in Palm Beach County.

Miami Beach
Kilombo exhibition and discussion moderated by Award-winning photographer Carl Juste with prize-winning documentary photographer and visual anthropologist Maria Daniel Balcazar featuring large-scale documentary photographs depicting the African legacy in Brazil. Jazz Men: An Evening of Music and Conversation with Larry Tyre Conversation moderated by Zach Larmer, Chief Operating Officer of Young Musicians United with Larry Tyre, author of The Jazzmen: How Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong and Count Basie Transformed America with a performance by Young Musicians Unite Jazz Ensemble. Black History Night Celebration Presented by the Parks and Recreation Department, the event will kick-off with the City of Miami Beach Black Affairs Advisory Committee presenting the 2025 Community Award to Olympian Twanisha “TeeTee” Terry and also featured cultural performances by after-school park program participants, music, rides, food, crafts, and more. The Soul Vegan & Seafood Food Festival returns to Lummus Park, bringing together the best of plant-based African-American and Caribbean cuisine. Presented in partnership with The Hungry Black Man, LLC, this free festival will feature delicious dishes, live entertainment, wellness activities, and more. Never Drop the Ball Film Screening part of the City of Miami Beach OnStage! Program and the City of Miami Black Affairs Advisory Committee of a documentary chronicling the journey of Black baseball players who helped transform the sport from a segregated pastime into a global phenomenon. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with Dr. Dorothy Jenkins Fields, baseball historian Abel Sanchez, and Michael Anderson and will be moderated by Tom Hudson from WLRN News.
