The Moth: Miami StorySLAM
The The Moth – Miami StorySLAM is a monthly (more or less) storytelling event in which South Floridians get up and tell true stories.
The event moves back and forth from the Sandrell Rivers Theater in Miami and the Miramar Cultural Center.
Each month has a theme and folks have to prepare a five-minute tale on that theme. The story must be true, and it must be a story about the person who is telling it. Volunteer judges rate the stories on a scale of 1 to 10.

Tickets are $20 and available online three weeks in advance. Tickets may be available at the door, but the event often sells out. Doors open at 6 p.m., and StorySLAM begins at 7 p.m. Cocktails are available at the bar.
Upcoming events:
- Thursday, July 16, Sandrell Rivers Theater. The theme is "Revenge."
- Thursday, August 13, Sandrell Rivers Theater. The theme is "Schooled."
Sandrell Rivers Theater is at 6103 NW Seventh Ave., Miami.
The Miramar Cultural Center is at 2400 Civic Center Pl, Miramar, FL 33025.
The Moth StorySLAM takes place all over the country, and you can hear some of the best stories at 1 p.m. Saturdays on WLRN Radio.
