Journey to Dia de los Muertos at Arsht, Pay what you wish

In honor of the Nov. 1 Day of the Dead celebrations, the Calpulli Mexican Dance Company is presenting a "Día de Muertos" love story told through folk songs, classical music and dance on Sunday, Nov. 1 at 1:30 p.m. at the Adrienne Arsht Center Knight Concert Hall. Although there are free tickets available with RSVP, this is a pay what you wish show where donations are accepted.

Kick off the day with pre-performance party will feature sugar skull decorating and mariachi music performance all held in a room decorated with traditional Day of the Dead colorful ofrendas.

That is followed by the performance which tells the story of couple, Lupita and Raul who fall victim to treachery and are separated, seemingly forever. Lupita then enters Mictlán, the underworld of Aztec mythology, where the Catrina, a mesmerizing figure, reigns as queen.
