New World Symphony is the forever-young orchestra reimagining what a trip to the symphony looks and feels like.
Every fall, dozens of the world’s brightest young musicians on the cusp of their professional careers gather in the heart of Miami Beach to perform alongside artists like Grammy-winning violinist Jennifer Koh, documentarian Sam Green and the dancers of Miami City Ballet.
Expect immersive, tech-enhanced performances and modern masterworks in the Frank Gehry-designed New World Center.
All season long, explore the music of today’s most vital living composers, from Philip Glass and Steve Reich to Caroline Shaw and Carlos Simon. With tickets to many performances starting at $25 (or less), get acquainted with the faces at the forefront of classical music in the 21st century.

Cosmic Myths
- Friday, October 16, 2026, at 7:30 p.m.
- New World Center
Travel through the cosmos in Pléïades, a musical work featuring the sixxen — a unique instrument the composer designed and created for the piece. From Glockenspiels to metal pipes, modern sounds pair with unusual instruments in 7 Pillars. Join the Fellows and NWS alums for this all-percussion concert.

Reich, Stravinsky & Glass
- Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 7:30 p.m.
- Sunday, October 25, 2026, at 2 p.m.

New World Symphony plays the giants of the late 20th Century: Philip Glass, Steve Reich and Igor Stravinsky. Grammy-winning violinist Jennifer Koh takes on Glass’ propulsive, swirling Violin Concerto.

Music in Motion
- Friday, November 6, 2026, at 7:30 p.m.
- New World Center
Curated by NWS Fellows, this interdisciplinary evening of music and contemporary dance serves as an exploration of feminine power.
Featuring dancers from San Francisco and New York, Music in Motion’s choreography highlights themes of creation, rage, oppression and freedom. Also featured is a presentation of silhouette animation pioneer Lotte Reiniger’s 1922 silent film Cinderella, accompanied by Karim Al-Zand’s score. Audiences will experience an exciting and deeply moving concert that will engage their eyes, ears, hearts and minds.

Remembering MTT

From raga-inspired piano riffs to a virtuosic vignette of a chance encounter at a crowded party, celebrate the music, stories and influences of Michael Tilson Thomas, co-founder of New World Symphony.

Anthony & Demarre McGill
- Saturday, January 16, 2027, at 7:30 p.m.
- Sunday, January 17, 2027, at 2 p.m.

Jessie Montgomery subverts nostalgia with her ecstatic, folk-indebted Strum. Virtuosic brothers Anthony and Demarre McGill join New World Symphony for a new Billy Childs concerto for flute and clarinet.

Steve Reich at 90
- Sunday, March 14, 2027 at 2 p.m.
- New World Center
Conductor Brad Lubman leads the Fellows in a collaboration bridging music, visual art and film. The afternoon culminates in the fireworks of Brahms’ String Quintet No. 1.

Gershwin, Adams & Connesson
- Saturday, May 1, 2027 at 7:30 p.m.
- Sunday, May 2, 2027 at 2 p.m.
- New World Center
History comes full circle when Artistic Director Stéphane Denève conducts the suite from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess just blocks from the opera’s rumored Miami Beach birthplace. Honegger’s Pacific 231 "picks up steam" when played alongside Jean Mitry’s Palme d’Or-winning short film of the same name. Connesson wrote his saxophone concerto A Kind of Trane as a tribute to John Coltrane.
