Black arts troupe offers performances & events for Juneteenth

Parties, performances and workshops are featured in South Florida to reflect historical references to freedom from slavery. Hued Songs is a black arts troupe that is participating in events in Dade & Broward for Florida Emancipation Day and Juneteenth, and entry is free. 

Featured Event

Pompano Beach

Florida Emancipation Day party is 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, May 23, and entry is free. Florida Emancipation Day reflects the historical abolishment of slavery in Florida. Reservations are offered online.

The event includes:

  • vendors
  • food trucks 
  • bar 
  • DJ
  • percussion & other workshops at 4:30 p.m. at The Hive theater
  • 7:30 p.m. performances 

The venue is Ali Arts, 353 MLK Jr. Boulevard, Pompano Beach,  33060.

Fort Lauderdale 

Juneteenth workshop is 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center, 2650 Sistrunk Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale 33311. RSVP for reservations. At the workshop, participants will work on a mixed-media Freedom Flag

Miami Beach

Juneteenth Experience performances will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, June 19, at North Beach Bandshell, 7275 Collins Avenue 33141.

Fort Lauderdale 

Juneteenth Experience performances will be 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at the African American Research Library, 2650 Sistrunk Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale 33311. RSVP for reservations
