Celebrate Hispanic Heritage with Orchestra Miami and the bilingual duo HoBuCo in a performance of Bizet y la Cucarachita.
Enjoy a bilingual performance of the popular folk tale, La Cucarachita Martina, set to the music of Bizet’s famous opera Carmen. La Cucarachita Martina is based on a popular Cuban and Puerto Rican children’s story about a little roach who learns many lessons on her journey to find true love, happiness and friendship.
When Martina finds a penny and buys a tin of face powder, suddenly everyone wants to marry her. But what this lady roach wants is friendship, kindness, thoughtfulness and sharing. She discovers there is more to life than looking pretty.
Narrated by HoBuCo’s Oscar Bustillo and conducted by Orchestra Miami’s Artistic Director Elaine Rinaldi, the performance exposes children to music from around the Spanish-speaking world, as well as teaching the lessons of finding beauty within. This concert and story performance lasts approximately 50 minutes and is recommended for ages 3 and up. Juice and cookies will be served after the performance.
The show is at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022, at Pinecrest Gardens. Tickets start at just $8 for kids, $12 for seniors (65 & up) and $15 for adults. Family Packs (two kids and two adults) are available for just $39.
This concert is the first of four in Orchestra Miami’s Family Fun Series at Pinecrest Gardens. For more information on the series or on how to subscribe, please visit www.OrchestraMiami.org or call (305) 274-2103.
