With the Miami International Film Festival coming up, it’s time to think about Miami’s history as a setting for movies and TV shows, some of which were actually shot here. The one that had the most impact in recent times was “Miami Vice,” whose stunning visuals created an urge to visit a glamorous Miami that didn’t yet exist. But life followed art, and now it does.
In recent years, “Burn Notice” showcased the city, with scenes shot in many recognizable places. But Miami has actually played a starting role onscreen for decades.
We shared some information about Miami’s history on the big and small screen with our friends at CubeSmart.
Miami on the Cheap has partnered with CubeSmart, a national self-storage company with a number of locations in South Florida, from Miami to Broward to West Palm Beach, to provide content for its City Moving Guide for Miami.
As CubeSmart’s City Guide Expert for Miami, I’ll be sharing insights on Miami from the perspective of a South Florida local. Each month, I’ll share a new article aimed at introducing newcomers to Miami, that special place we all call home. If you’ve got ideas for what to tell newcomers, email me at teresa@miamionthecheap.com.
Disclosure: I’ve partnered with CubeSmart as the company’s local expert in Miami. Articles are written by me and are my opinion.
