Free trees and plants are distributed to eligible Broward residents at an outdoor event in Davie that includes educational exhibits, fun for youngsters and food vendors.
The event is fun and educational for everyone and some exhibitors offer free items for everyone, while supplies last.
Water Matters Day in 2023 is 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. March 11 at Tree Tops Park in Davie.
The outdoor features exhibits and activities focusing on protecting water from pollution, using water efficiently and the environmental benefits of native and Florida-Friendly landscaping.
Participants receive an opportunity to take their picks of a wide array of free trees and shrubs. To qualify for free trees, they need to be a resident of Broward, and interact with exhibitors at different displays. The trees and plants offered fit with environmentally preferable landscaping principles.
The event offers up to 2 trees or shrubs per household, while supplies last.
Entry to the festival is free. Weekend entry to the park is $1.50 for 6 and older. Parking is free. Tree Tops Park is at 3900 SW 100 Ave., Davie 33328
