A free Japanese spring festival will take place on Sunday, May 8, 2022, at the Ichimura Miami-Japan Garden on Watson Island.

From 11 a.m. to 4 pm., you can bask in Japanese entertainment, culture, food and music. The event includes demonstrations of sushi and ikebana as well as a Japanese tea ceremony, kisen calligraphy mural, and cosplay exhibition.
A Japanese tea ceremony has been scheduled at 12:15 p.m. and 2:15 p.m., for an extra fee of $10 a person. Because of capacity, the ceremony is limited to the first 20 guests who purchase tickets. There will also be a sushi demonstration at 2:15 p.m. also limited to the first 20 guests who purchase tickets. Ticket to the demonstration includes a sample sushi plate. Though the potential was there for this event, it was so small and with so little to do, it was honestly quite disappointing. There were a dozen or so vendors, and most sold Funko Pops. My kids and I were out of things to do after about ten minutes.
