Free Family Day on Aragon in Coral Gables

Coral Gables Museum welcomes you to “Family Day on Aragon” on the second Saturday of each month, with free admission, live music and special activities. 

 

Upcoming event is on April 13:

10 a.m.: Parent Club’s READy, Set, Go: Storytelling

In the ‘Exploring Nature’ station, caregivers will have the opportunity to support children in their learning about science, math, and other skills by exploring the growth and development from a seed to a plant. Activities will encourage families to explore the outdoors and use it as a teachable moment.

11 a.m.: Musical Storytelling with IMAGO

Join in a musical journey ‘La Pulga y el Piojo!’ Experience the magic of storytelling accompanied by musical instruments, perfect for young kids to engage and interact with. 

Guided Museum Highlights tour

Enjoy a guided tour from the museum's educator covering highlight exhibitions ‘Strange Fruits’ and ‘Paving Roads for Latin American Art’.

Screening of the animated films “For the Birds” and “Luca” across the street at Coral Gables Art Cinema.

Noon: Interactive Music Workshop by The Moving Music Museum

“Musical Bows” learning experience explores the origin of musical bows having the Afro-Brazilian berimbau as main instrument. The activity goes over geography, history, and social studies-related topics such as the 16th century Atlantic people trade from Africa to the Americas, slavery in Brazil, Capoeira, the Afro-Brazilian martial art, and other popular instruments in Brazilian culture such as pandeiro. The presentation also showcases other gourd resonator instruments like the Cuban güiro, African mbira and shekere.

1-3 p.m.: Geometric Abstractions Artmaking

Make art inspired by the vibrant artwork featured in our ‘Paving Roads for Latin American Art’ exhibition. Dive into a world of color and shapes as you create your own abstract masterpieces!
