Shops at Merrick Park will present its 20th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Thursday, November 16, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Special guest host WSVN Channel 7’s “Today in Florida” Anchor Alex de Armas will emcee the evening’s festivities.
The towering 50-foot tree will be lit and South Florida’s own Preston Howell, a former contestant on NBC’s The Voice. will debut his holiday single, “Christmas Without You.”
The Miami Royal Ballet and Coral Gables Senior High School Gablettes will also perform, there will be holiday costumed characters frolicking about, a 360° photo booth, and an appearance by Santa Claus who will kick-off the festive season.
Santa will make his grand arrival down San Lorenzo Avenue on the Coral Gables Fire Department’s fire truck. Shoppers can view and pose with the holiday tree through early January 2024.
Additionally, there will also be a weekly musical series titled “Santa on the Green” featuring a rotating lineup of performers. Beginning on Thursday, November 30, and continuing every Thursday evening until December 21, from 6 – 9 p.m., the center’s garden area will be filled with lively music and Santa himself, ready for photo opportunities. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early with a blanket or chair to reserve the perfect spot on the green and indulge in the variety of dining and shopping options at Shops at Merrick Park.
